After reading the proposed reading in class, we are going to start practicing the peer-marking theory. So, your new assignments are:
1. Reply a classmate comment in the two last blogs, suggesting him/her how to improve his/her comment in relation to grammar aspects. (just make replies to those classmates who do not have one).
2. Consider the proposed requirements in each blog (proposed tense, number of words, useful vocabulary, etc).
3. Specify the possible mistakes and the way you suggest to correct them, considering grammar, spelling, verb tense, etc.
4. Finally, write a comment in this entry, talking about the way you perceived this activity. Answer the following questions:
1. Was this activity helpful for you? Why?
2. Was it difficult for you to give a correct feedback to your classmates? Why?
3. Do you consider peer-marking is a good method to correct written compositions?
5. Language use / writing aspects:

For me, the peer-marking experience was helpful because it was great to be able to see with a partner’s eyes. I mean that it was interesting to see how other people can perceive my ideas, and the way in what I try to express them. However, it was difficult. When I had to read a partner’s text, I did not know if I was doing well my job. I consider that I do not have enough knowledge to correct or grade another’s work. But the experience was good because of the empathy’s exercise.

ReplyDeleteI think that peer- marking is useful for me, because it help us to enhance our knowledge. I believe that when we correct partners' compositions, we learn a lot of things that maybe I do not know or it help us ti improve our English level. But we should have into account that correction is very difficult because we sometimes are proud and we think that our ideas are nice. However there are methods like peer-marking for to teach of ourselves. I consider that peer- marking is a good method for our lives and our learning.

ReplyDeleteI consider the most useful of this activity is that l have the opportunity to learn what were our own mistakes for doing our best in a next time. Even if we can learn also throught classmates' mistakes to do not it!! Of course, it is a kind of practicing of the theory related with Peer-marking correction, which is used for more teachers nowadays. For this exercise, in particular, peer-marking correction is an opportunity to put in practice and re live our knowledge as teachers in formation. We have to know why we have to do a correction or a suggestion.
At this English learning level we must have an enough knowledge to do pertinent corrections but I think not always we have a whole feeling of sureness. For that reason we have to put in CONTACT more with the language, in real contexts, in order to provide enough experiences to be sure. On the other hand sometimes it is difficult this kind of exercise because of we do not know if something could be a mistake, likewise it requires a lot of PRACTICE and EXPOSURE to make the mistakes and to learn of it.
I can say peer-marking correction is a good method to enhace writting skill because it involves a personal improvement, it means to be sure what we know for putting it in practice when we are writting. But it is not only useful to enhance wittings, also with speeches and other English learning experiences which are more meaningful through this kind of correction, when we receive a pertinent feedback from students with more advantages in some language skills. It is also useful for teachers, to decrease the number of works to correct.
Although not everbody received a feedback in this exercise, in particular. Some of us did not know exactly what a different person thought about our writtings. This is my last statement to conclude this coment. Thanks for your attention.

ReplyDelete° It was good because i could realize the mistakes we usually make.
° It was a little complicated because i was not really sure whether i was correcting in the right way.
° Maybe, the peer- marking is a good method to correct written compositions but when the students have good knowledge or good English bases because if they do not have those things, it will be more difficult or confuse. I think, it would be better if the teacher was near helping the students and correcting them when they make mistakes.

I think this activity helped me a lot, because this incentive me to research and discover things taht i did not know, however, I found it a little difficult because I have not enough knowledge about English grammar.
ReplyDeletePeer-marking seems to me a very good way to improve my grammar and to improve grammar of my peers, peer marking seems to me efficient and also seems to me a method that measures the knowledge we have about the grammar. This activity I liked and helped me improve.
I think peer marking is helpful for me; because, when a classmate corrects our written, we have less risk to wrong. Thus, we can see every mistake and we try to correct it.

It was difficult, because, I don’t have too much knowledge about English grammar; but, I did the best I could.
Yes, I consider peer marking is a good method; at the moment that we correct the written, we are seeing the classmate’ mistake and our mistakes; therefore, we are learning and we won’t repeat the same mistake.

ReplyDeleteIt was a good activity, peer-marking was helpful for me, because when I read what my partners corrected to me, I realized of my mistakes and it is important not to make it again. To give a correct feedback to my classmate was a little bit hard, I do not have much knowledge about English grammar, so I do not know if my partner is in the correct way or if I am. I consider that peer-marking and teacher corrections are good methods to correct written compositions. In peer-marking, students can realized easier of some mistakes that themselves can commit. In teacher correction, professor has the enough knowledge to correct it, but perhaps, student that was corrected, will not realize of his mistake. We as future teachers should to implement both methods.

ReplyDeleteI think the peer making is a useful tool to improve our weaknesses and interchange the knowledge.when one person interact with other this can see better the mistakes and to try to improve them also the peermaking allows to answer doubts and to create a dialogue betwen the two students about the topic .is important to have in acount this activity is not a game for only do it must has an objective to achieve and in this way is useful to both .personally i practice sometimes this activity and is good for me i had learn a lot
I really like this activity because, first a did not found grammar problems, because I understand the thoughts of my classmates,but then I have to be carefully and analyze the grammar aspects.

ReplyDeleteThis activity helped us to review how we are eachother in grammar, for my truth was confusing because when I read the text i saw that it was well wrote, then i had to start again and put myself in the role of teacher to understand and correct each idea. ReplyDeleteI think that is activity is very good, because I learned more things about English grammar,but It's really difficult and unclear to correct my mates, because I read for my is well, I think that it was difficult, because I don't have experience in fixing mistakes that I look or think are good. I consider it appropriate this strategy, but we need to have more experience and knowledge on English grammar , it was gratifying and I learned from own mistakes and those of my colleagues... thanks for you attention happy day :)

ReplyDeleteI think that the peer-marking activity was excellent for us, because as a future teachers we have to be ready to correct lots of mistakes. In this case we had the opportunity to correct to our partners, and it is nice because sometimes we need to receive advices from the other people different to the teacher, I perceive this like something good.
Also in this activity you have to put in practice your knowledge or learn something new, and all this kind of exercises are good for our intellect.
Some people say that you learn from the mistakes, and it could be true.
The peer marking is an enriching activity for students. when I gave feedback to my parners was as a challenge for me.
ReplyDeleteI had to prove my knowledge about grammar. It was helpfull for me to check some grammar aspects that I do not remembered. Besides, was difficult to give feedback because I do not found the correct words to say the comments without sound like if I were criticizing. For me, it is a good method to correct written compositions, because we can learn to identify mistakes and also we are learning to give feedback, that is very usefull for us when we will face our role as teachers.
I think that this activity was very pleasant, because I felt that I was not able to correct clearly the mistakes of my partners, but step by step I knew that that it wasn’t difficult. I learned and clarify some doubts about English grammar and peer marking was important to understand several mistakes that I used daily. Peer marking is a good method to improve the capacity to evaluate the weakness in our partners and myself.

ReplyDeletethis is a great tool, this will help us in the labor as teachers because in many of our classes we will have to qualify our students errors. It is a difficult task at this time, but it's the idea. we need to have a perfect grammar to carry out this activity.
ReplyDeletepeer-marking is a great methodology and more if we are implementing in our partners, it is possible to identify basic errors, if we take it to a higher level, perhaps, we will be in trouble by our current grammatical level.
Peer-Marking is a very interesting way of evaluate knowledge. It is a good opportunity to start a feedback process, because everybody is envolved between the classroom. The student's voice, actually, become into a voice. Sometimes people think that the teacher is the only one who is right, but anybody listen to the students.
ReplyDeleteWe have to take into account the level of our students to try to practice this method. In the classroom we could find very good students, but we could find students with grammar problems too.
I think that all the new teaching ideas are hopeful, and it is one of them.
I think that peer-marking is an interesting tool because is a way in that it helps to improve the student has weaknesses in terms of grammar and I think that this activity is importan because help us to start a feedback and to improve our knowledge.

ReplyDeletePeer-Marking is a good way for learn from our classmates, but I think that it can be bad, because if I try to correct the writing of my classmates, is possible that I don’t have enough knowledge to find the mistakes and correct it. It maybe is a good way to improve our labor as teachers, when we are going to value our students, then we are going to need much information about grammar rules and writing. It is helpful for me, because I can learn from the opinion of my classmates and knowing the importance of Peer-marking. I think that is better the correction from the teachers because we can be more secure about their opinions, also they know how to correct us and it makes us feel good. Juliana Laverde
Peer marking is very appropriate for the implicit teachjing of grammar. When i was correcting my classmates' blog entries, while reading them, i got the chance to put into practice my knowledge on the englich language. This was really useful for me because the chance of correcting another person's production is not very common. I haven't found any difficulties on correcting my classmates, but i think other persons might have some issues to correct other classmates because of their personal relationships. Maybe if there's a person who doesn't like another one, this person will be tougher to the one that he doesn't like, so this is a peer-marking weakness. Peer marking is good to practice your grammar lessons, but i think the real marking should be left to teachers exclusively.

1. This activity was helpful for me, because when my partner help me to improve, I can note which my mistakes without the grade pressure are.
ReplyDelete2. It was difficult because sometimes I did not know what my partner wanted to say. There are mistakes that I unknown too, or I am not completely sure about my partner mistakes.
3. Peer-marking is good when I can ask to my partner what he want say, like in a collaborative way, but in these way was a little bit difficult. Peer-marking is a good method, but I think that I need more knowledge for correct my partner mistakes.
I think that this exercise is good and we must practice it more for learn and teach at same time.
